How will my pet travel?

Before making a reservation
Please be sure to read about envioronment of transportation by air.

Your pet will be carried in the cargo section, which is located underneath the passenger cabin (Except Narita=Mumbai route).
The following procedure may vary for code-share flights depending on the carrier. For details, please contact to operating carrier directly.
Reservations via Internet are not accepted. Please contact ANA for further information and reservations.
 
The conditions mentioned below is for carriage of animals as checked baggage which is carried with passenger on the same flight.
Pet Types ANA accepts carriage of dogs, cats, birds and other animals. Only one dog, one cat or a pair of birds per one container.
Limitation per flight 3 passengers with pets per flight
Charges The charge of pets can not be included in free baggage allowance and exess baggage charge is required. The charge varies by your destination.
Notes:
- Each country has its own regulations governing the import/export of live animals.
Pets in aircraft hold may not be accepted in accordance with country regulations.
Please check the regulations and prepare proper documentation for valid health, entry permits and other documents in advance.
- Please note that animals can be carried as cargo only in some countries.
- The container must be;
- clean and leak-proof
- Hard type container (i.e. metal, rigid plastic, solid wood etc.) is highly recommended. Soft type container or bag cannot be accepted.
- lockable
- large enough to allow freedom of movement to stand, lie down and turn down.
- We recommend that you provide sufficient food and water before check-in since your pet cannot be fed during the flight and at transit locations. However, a container that is equipped with a water pot and a food container can be used.
- You will be asked to fill out Consent and Release forms at the airport.

For passengers who are accompanied by assistance dog

Disabled passengers accompanied by dogs, such as seeing-eye dogs or hearing-ear dogs, are able to travel together under animals in cabin service. For further information and details, please contact your local ANA.
 
When you arrive at Japan with your pet, animal import procedure and required documents will vary based on what kind of animals your pet is.
Passengers with dogs and cats New quarantine regulations for Japan are introduced from January 1st, 2005. Click here for details.
You must submit advance notification to the Animal Quarantine service of Japan (AQS) at least 40 days prior to arrival in Japan.
For dogs or cats imported from rabies-free countries or regions, the quarantine period will be completed within 12 hours if you have an export certificate that the animal is fitted with a microchip of ISO standards.
Please note that the maximum quarantine period will be 180 days in case the conditions does not meet the regulations.

Passengers with rodents,(mammals except for dogs and cats) and birds The notification document and the health certificate are required to be submitted to Quarantine Station of Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare upon arrival of the animal after Sep.1 2005. The Health certificate should be issued by the authority of the exporting country.

Flow from check-in to arrival

1.Check-in counter

Prepare all required documents for import and export animals required in advance. If your pet is subject to quarantine inspection at the departure airport*, please come to the counter after the inspection has been completed.
Please arrive at the airport 120 minutes prior to your departure.

*Please come to the counter after the acceptance time of each quarantine station is confirmed when the inspection is received on that day.

2.Pet check-in

Sign Consent and Release form and pay excess baggage charge. Then, check-in is completed.
3.To the aircraft

Your pet is delivered to the aircraft by a truck.
4.In the cargo room

Your pet is carried into the bulk cargo room. The space is air-conditioned as same as the cabin.
5.Pick-up at the destination airport

Your much-loved pet is handled carefully by our staff and returned directly to you.
