Cabin Crew and Passengers Choose
New ANA Cabin Crew Uniform

TOKYO, August 24, 2004 – ANA Group today announced the choice of its latest uniform for cabin crew, made after consultation with Cabin Attendants and members of the general public. Group airlines have been flying domestically under the ANA brand since April this year, and from spring of next year, all 5,200 Cabin Attendants in the Group will wear uniforms of the same design for the very first time.

The uniform was chosen from a line-up of three created by Japanese designer Atsuro Tayama, and unveiled to the public in May:

Design A
Stylish, with clear lines and an embossed `3-D` stripe. The compact shoulder lines of the jacket and its peaked lapel are the points to note.

Design B
Feminine and elegant, the jacket has a simple collarless design with a round neck, and a compact shoulder line.

Design C
Sharp, with a unisex cut. The jacket has a small silhouette across the shoulder and peaked lapel.

Design C won the favour of the general public with 41% of the 80,000 plus votes received. 45% of Cabin Attendants within the Group also preferred it. It has a dark navy blue base, which combines with a scarf in ANA’s corporate blue and elegant purple; a colour combination designed to invoke the trust and familiarity of ANA’s passengers. The design also incorporates an avant-garde lamé stripe, a feature not often found in uniforms.

At the same time as the cabin crew uniform was chosen, 5,000 ANA Group ground staff also had a say in the choice of their own new uniform, with 55% opting for a memorable four pocket design, also from a choice of three possible designs.

“Uniforms are a very visible part of the corporate brand, and the coming together of all cabin crew and ground staff in the ANA Group airlines will increase passengers’ familiarity and sense of affinity with ANA, and make it easier for them to use the services of the Group,” said Junko Yamauchi, Senior Vice President of ANA’s Inflight Services Department and the first female board member among airlines in Japan.
