ANA Signs Contract For Rolls-Royce Engines
To Power Its Fleet of Boeing 787s From 2008

LONDON, March 3, 2005 – ANA (All Nippon Airways) yesterday signed a $1 billion contract to purchase 110 Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines to power its fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft scheduled for delivery starting in 2008.

The contract was signed by ANA President and CEO Yoji Ohashi, and Rolls-Royce Chairman Simon Robertson at a press conference in London.

ANA is the launch customer for Boeing’s 787 program, placing a $6 billion order in April 2004, and announced its intention to order Rolls-Royce engines for the aircraft in October.

Mr. Ohashi said, “After evaluating the two engines options available, ANA decided that the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000, with its brilliant and innovative design, best met all of our criteria in terms of economic and environmental performance. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Rolls-Royce.”
