TOKYO April 18, 2006 - ANA and Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) will commence a code-sharing agreement from June 2 on flights between Tokyo and Zurich. Under the terms of the code-share, ANA will place its two letter code, NH, on the six flights per week operated by SWISS between Tokyo and Zurich. Since April 2006 this year, customers of both airlines have enjoyed mileage accrual and redemption across the networks of both airlines; the code-sharing agreement allows ANA to offer its customers the simplicity of travelling under one flight code along with through check-in and through baggage, amongst other benefits. This is the next stage in the co-operation agreement entered into by both airlines on April 1 this year and allows them to maximise the synergies of Star Alliance, which SWISS joined also on April 1. Going forward, both airlines will examine extending the present agreement to code-sharing on domestic flights within Japan. Thanks to the membership of SWISS in Star Alliance, its premium customers and those of all member airlines can enjoy lounge access and other privileges such as priority check-in and baggage across the entire Star Alliance network. ANA joined Star Alliance in October 1999 as its ninth member. The accession of SWISS and South African Airways in April this year swelled the ranks of the alliance to 18 members, offering unparalleled global coverage, high quality and innovative products, and recognition of premium and frequent flyer privileges across the entire network of 852 airports in 152 countries.
