TOKYO, May 8, 2006 -ANA Group today announced its passenger traffic figures for the Golden Week holiday period, which ran from April 28 to May 7, 2006. Fueled by demand for travel to China in particular – which increased 34.8% compared with the previous year’s Golden Week – ANA Group carried almost 125,000 passengers to overseas destinations, the highest ever figure recorded for Golden Week, and a total year-on-year increase of 21.3%. On the domestic front, the actual number of passengers outperformed forecasts, with nearly 1.3 million passengers, a 3% year-on-year increase, travelling the length and breadth of Japan. Hokkaido in the north, and Kyushu in the south, were the most popular destinations. The peak domestic travel day was May 3, when 173,000 passengers took to the skies of Japan. |
