Yamaguchi Prefecture is located at the southwestern tip of Honshu Island, with the Japan Sea to the north and Seto Inland Sea to the south. Much of the prefecture comprises low mountains.

Climate
Climate varies depending on the area (Seto Inland Sea, Japan Sea Coast and Inland) but is generally mild throughout. Annual average temperature in Yamaguchi City is about 14.7°C; average annual rainfall is 1,844 mm.
