Baggage

The following procedure may vary for code-share flights depending on the carrier. For details, please contact to operating carrier directly.

· Carry-on Baggage

Carry-on baggage should be limited to one piece, must not weigh more than 10kg (22 lbs) and fit underneath the seat in front of you, or in the overhead baggage compartment. The dimensions of carry on baggage should not exceed linear maximum length of 115cm (45 inches),and each side should not exceed 55cm×40cm×23cm (22×16×9 inches), including any baggage attachments such as handles, wheels, etc. Personal belongings such as handbags, cameras, glasses, etc, may be carried on in addition to the above limitation.

<Japan domestic flights connecting to international services>
When you use an international ticket for domestic sector, carry-on baggage allowance is under same rule as international sector. However there may be more limits based on available space and additional restrictions on small aircrafts (under 100 seats).

*	Effective December 1st, 2009, your carry-on baggage will be measured at the security inspection area in all domestic airports in Japan through a gauge installed on the X-ray machine. For oversized baggages, it is required to leave them as a checked baggage at the check-in counter.
*	You can purchase extra seats for your baggage occupying a seat because of its unsuitable size for carry-on baggage allowance, e.g. paintings, musical instruments, etc. Please contact to ANA International Reservation and Information Center for detail.

* Passenger seated in emergency exit row or bulkhead seat must stow all the belongings in the overhead compartment.

· New restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols as carry-on baggage

· Checked Baggage

The maximum weight for one piece of baggage is 32 kg, and we cannot accept over 100 kg baggage in total. Over sized luggage is not totalized and if one piece's weight exceeds 32 kg, even if the other piece weight less than 32kg.
The total linear dimension (length + height + width) should not exceed 203cm. Even if your baggage is within free baggage allowance, your baggage may not be accepted for small aircraft. Please contact ANA in advance. Details of the maximum baggage length for each aircraft can be found here.

Free Baggage Allowance

Transpacific flights (including U.S.A.):Piece system will be applied.

Japan domestic flights connecting to international services

International baggage rule will apply to the customers boarding domestic flights with the ticket including international flights.
Even if your baggage is within free baggage allowance, your baggage may not be accepted for flights operated by ANA (Q84, Q83, 320) and flights operated by IBEX and Oriental Air Bridge. Details of the maximum baggage length for each aircraft can be found here.

· Excess Baggage Charges

Baggage exceeding the free baggage allowance may be allowed with an excess baggage charge.

(1) Transpacific flights (including U.S.A.):Piece system will be applied.

<First Class/Business Class>
Baggage exceeding the free baggage allowance will be charged with excess baggage charge per piece. Please note that charge per piece is different between departure from Japan and departure from U.S.A..

<Economy Class>
Baggage exceeding the free baggage allowance will be charged with excess baggage charge per piece (see above chart). Additional charge may apply depending on the size and weight of excess baggage.
For baggage weighing over 23kg (50lbs) and up to 32kg (70lbs), 3,000 yen per piece will be charged for the first two bags for Japan departures.
For departure from U.S. or Asia (excluding Japan), the charge is 25USD and its equivalent per piece for first two bags.
Please note that charge per piece is different between departure from Japan and departure from U.S.A..

(2) Other flights (including Europe) :Weight system will be applied.

Excess baggage fee is 1.5 percent of the normal adult one-way economy class fare from departure point. (When there are two types of normal fares as in flights originating in Japan, the higher of the two fares will be used.) Please note that the fee per 1 kg is different between departure from Japan and that from other airports.

	Ski equipment, golf bag and fishing equipment may not be accepted for flights operated by ANA (Q84, Q83, 320) and flights operated by IBEX and Oriental Air Bridge. Please contact ANA in advance. Details of the maximum baggage length for each aircraft can be found here.

· Bulky Baggage, Musical Instruments

Please contact ANA in advance if your baggage exceed the following size:
Items with total linear dimensions exceeding 203cm (80 in.).
Items that weigh more than 32kg (70 lbs.).
Large musical instruments such as cello, contrabass and etc.
Also, if you do not contact us, we may not be able to accept your bulky baggage.

· Valuables, Fragile, items

(1)	The following valuables will not be accepted as checked baggage. cash · jewelry · precious metals · securities · bonds · works of art, antiques, business documents · data · computers (personal computers etc.) and computer accessories · cameras · digital cameras · video cameras · mobile phones · passport or ID cards · product samples · credit cards · cash vouchers · bankbooks · checks · commuter passes · keys · watches · relics · medicine etc.
(2)	ANA will not be liable for any damage to the following fragile items, if and to the extent that the damage resulted from the inherent defect, quality or vice of the item. musical instrument · sporting equipment (surfboard · windsurfing · scuba gear · bicycle etc.) · china · glass · liquor etc.
(3)	ANA will not be liable for any damage or loss as mentioned below. - damage to baggage from overweight or over-packing - damage caused by defects in the baggage itself such as from normal wear or tear, loss or damage to protruding parts such as detachable wheels · straps · hooks · name tags · belts or other attached items - minor damage such as scratches · scuffs · dents · cuts · dirt - damage caused by TSA (Transportation Security Administration) Inspection

· Restricted Items

The following items are not permitted as carry-on baggage.

Knives of any length, ski wax sprays, or any other items that could be used to cause injury, such as scissors, heavy or sharp tools, ice-skating shoes, baseball bats, golf clubs etc.

The following dangerous goods cannot be carried as either checked or carry-on baggage.

Restrictions on Board

· Restrictions on the Use of Electronic Devices On Board

Due to revisions of the notification of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, "Restrictions on the use of electronic items" were partially revised on and after Oct.1, 2007.
Following are the items cited in the notification, as the electronic devices which may interfere with the safety of flight operation.
You are required to comply with the above by Japanese Law, and failure to do so will result in a fine up to ¥500,000.

Devices prohibited of use at all times*1

The following, which emit radio waves when turned on:
Cellular phones, PHS (Handy Phone System), Transceivers, Radio operated toys, Wireless headphones, Wireless earphones, Wireless microphones, Built-in battery type IC tags, Personal computers, PDA (Personal Digital Assistance), Wireless personal computer peripherals, Electronic games, Pedometer with wireless transmission function, Cardio tachometer with wireless transmission function, Wrist watches with wireless transmission function, Wireless keys

Devices prohibited of use during parking, taxiing, takeoff, and landing*2

Devices listed above, set in a condition that will not emit radio waves when turned on*,
TVs, Radios, Beepers, GPS receivers, Video cameras, Video players, DVD players, Digital cameras, Digital audio players, Wired battery-operated headphones, Wired battery-operated earphones, Word processors, Electronic notepads, Electronic dictionaries, Printers, Battery chargers, Toys "electronic virtual pets" (limited to items in which the speaker or monitor is activated to sound or vibration)

*	This means that the send/receive function is set to OFF. Customers are requested to set items to off-line mode before boarding and to ensure that the main power supply is switched off.

*1	During Takeoff: Until the fasten seat belt sign is switched off after takeoff or the announcement allowing the use of electronic devices is made.
*2	During Landing: After the announcement prohibiting the use of electronic devices is made, up until you leave the aircraft after landing.

ANA may restrict the use of a certain device regardless of the above.

All cellular phones emit radio waves automatically when they are turned on in order to send their position to the ground station. Please switch them off before boarding the aircraft and do not switch them on until after deplaning, as the waves may interfere with the systems of the aircraft. To prevent interference, restrictions also apply to electronic devices in the cabin even when the aircraft is on the ground.

· The Use of Products Causing Fire or Smoking

Smoking and use of flammable is strictly prohibited in all seats including lavatories, as these constitute dangerous fire-hazards. The triggering of smoke detectors is a serious matter leading to emergency landing at the nearest airport.

For the benefit of other passengers, use of smoke substitutes ( electronic cigarettes, etc.) that do not emit fire is also prohibited on board.
