Free Baggage Allowance

The following is ANA operating flight's standard.
Baggage exceeding the free baggage allowance may be allowed with an excess baggage charge.

  • *We may be able to accept musical instrument or sports equipment as checked baggage, which can be included free baggage allowance. Musical instrument or sports equipment exceeding the free baggage allowance (piece/weight/size) may be allowed with an excess baggage charge.
  • *When total weight of all checked baggage exceeding 100kg, advanced authorization is needed. Please contact to ANA International Reservation and Information Center. (Please see here for bulky baggage.)
  • *If your baggage is bulky, it may not be accepted for small aircraft or operated airline. Details of the maximum baggage length for each aircraft can be found here.

・Japan domestic flights connecting to international services

International baggage rule will apply to the customers boarding domestic flights with the ticket including international flights.
Even if your baggage is within free baggage allowance, your baggage may not be accepted for flights operated by ANA (Q84, Q83, 320) and flights operated by IBEX and Oriental Air Bridge. Details of the maximum baggage length for each aircraft can be found here.

ANA “Diamond Service” Members, “Platinum Service” Members, ANA Super Flyers Card Members, and Star alliance gold members are entitled to 1 extra piece/32kg of baggage.
ANA “Bronze Service” Members when flying Economy Class or Business Class on ANA Group operating International flights, baggage allowance will be raised to the first class level.

Bulky Baggage

Bulky baggage which of total linear dimensions exceed 203cm (80in), weight per piece exceeds 32kg(70lb), and/or total weight exceeds 100kg (220lb) may not be accepted due to small aircraft.
Please contact ANA International Reservation and Information Center in advance.

In accordance with British Airport Authority(BAA) order, passengers travelling from London Heathrow Airport should note that your checked baggage cannot exceed 32kg per piece. Passengers are required to pack your baggage not to exceed 32kg per piece before check-in.

Musical Instruments, Sports Equipment, Valuables, Fragile items

We may be able to accept musical instrument or sports equipment as checked baggage, which can be included free baggage allowance.
Even if your bulky baggage such as musical instrument or sports equipment is within free baggage allowance, your baggage may not be accepted for airport facility condition or small aircraft.

  • * You can purchase extra seats for your baggage occupying a seat because of its unsuitable size for carry-on baggage allowance.

Valuables, Fragile items
  1. (1) The following valuables will not be accepted as checked baggage.
    cash · jewelry · precious metals · securities · bonds · works of art, antiques, business documents · data · computers (personal computers etc.) and computer accessories · cameras · digital cameras · video cameras · mobile phones · passport or ID cards · product samples · credit cards · cash vouchers · bankbooks · checks · commuter passes · keys · watches · relics · medicine etc.
  2. (2) ANA will not be liable for any damage to the following fragile items, if and to the extent that the damage resulted from the inherent defect, quality or vice of the item.
    musical instrument · sporting equipment (surfboard · windsurfing · scuba gear · bicycle etc.) · china · glass · liquor etc.
  3. (3) ANA will not be liable for any damage or loss as mentioned below.
    - damage to baggage from overweight or over-packing
    - damage caused by defects in the baggage itself such as from normal wear or tear, loss or damage to protruding parts such as detachable wheels · straps · hooks · name tags · belts or other attached items
    - minor damage such as scratches · scuffs · dents · cuts · dirt
    - damage caused by TSA (Transportation Security Administration) Inspection
