| All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. (ANA) has announced an agreement reached today
at a meeting of its Board of Directors in Tokyo to name Kichisaburo Nomura as
chairman and Yoji Ohashi president and CEO, effective April 1. Mr. Nomura, who
joined ANA in 1959 after graduation from Waseda University in Tokyo, has been
ANA president and CEO since 1997. The position of chairman he will assume has
been vacant the past four years. During Mr. Nomura's nearly four years as president,
ANA undertook many initiatives designed to make the company more competitive by
reducing costs and expanding into new markets. Foremost among these efforts was
ANA's joining the Star Alliance in 1999. Mr. Ohashi, currently senior executive
vice president sales and marketing, joined ANA in 1964 after graduating from Keio
University in Tokyo, where he studied Law. He has held a variety of senior management
positions at ANA, including two years (1995-1997) as senior vice president and
general manager the Americas, based in New York. He has been a member of the ANA
Board of Directors since 1995. |
