- more choice for customers on popular route linking downtown Tokyo with downtown Seoul -
TOKYO October 11, 2007- ANA and Asiana will extend their code-sharing agreement to include the Tokyo Haneda - Seoul Gimpo route, linking the two airports closest to their respective capital city centres, from October 28 this year.
Both Haneda and Gimpo airports and can be accessed easily and conveniently from the centres of the cities they serve. As the two daily ANA operated return flights will carry the Asiana two-letter code, OZ, and the two daily Asiana operated return flights will carry the ANA two-letter code, NH, customers will be given greater freedom and more convenience in their choice of flights between Tokyo and Seoul.
ANA and Asiana first entered a code-sharing agreement for passenger flights in 2000. Once these code-share flights commence, it will cover all 19 routes between Japan and Korea operated by these two Star Alliance member airlines - 185 weekly flights in total (as of October 28, 2007; rising to 197 flights during the winter schedule). In addition to passenger flights, the agreement was expanded in 2006 to include all freighter flights operated by the two carriers between the two countries.
Also from October 28, in a further move demonstrating the depth of their co-operation, and building on the strategic alliance that ANA and Asiana announced in December last year, customers will be served in the cabin by crew of both airlines on the same flight.
