Kasamai Ohata Sakura Road in Ohata Town is a national route lined with around 1,400 cherry trees, stretching over approximately 8 kilometers. It is one of the longest roads lined with the Somei Yoshino variety, the most popular flowering cherry trees in Japan.

Kasamai is a word in the dialect of the Shimokita region, meaning "Welcome." Kasamai Ohata Sakura Road is a popular driving route that runs through a tunnel of cherry blossom trees in full bloom. The flowers in this area start blooming in late April with the petals that flutter down over the road creating a breathtaking scene. A cherry blossom festival is held at the beginning of May every year.
