Revolutionary New Drumming
Entertainment in Tokyo
MANGEKYO, which started in FY 2017, has been held as a permanent performance since FY 2019, and has received significant feedback from both inside and outside Japan.
MANGEKYO is a new form of entertainment in Tokyo. It is jointly planned and produced by JTB Communication Design and DRUM TAO, a wadaiko drum entertainment group that has an impressive record of having performed in 500 cities in 26 countries to a total of 8 million spectators.
These performances utilizes projection mapping. Thanks to collaboration with teamLab, a group of ultra-technologists who unite around the concept of collaborative creation. The group is made up of various experts in the digital field who are active both in Japan and abroad. Performances provide a spectacular fusion of light and the sound of wadaiko drums with a traditional, avant-garde intensity.
Designer Junko Koshino creates costumes with highly refined designs, and Rumi Matsui, who has assisted in set design for over 400 operas and live performances, is in charge of stage art. Their talents create performances that provide a superb entertainment experience unique to Japan.
