We're Back... Get your "JAPAN RAIL PASS" at ANA


TOKYO SEPTEMBER,30 1997 All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. (ANA), the largest Japanese airline by passenger volume, announced a new service beginning 1 October 1997--"JAPAN RAIL PASS" will be made available at up to 39 of ANA's overseas offices and authorized sales offices/agents abroad. "JAPAN RAIL PASS", which is issued by the Japan Railway Groups (JR), allows foreign travelers visiting Japan for sight-seeing to travel throughout Japan affordably.

ANA's Senior Managing Director of Marketing & Sales, Osamu Nagahata noted, "It is our honor to start the service of the 'JAPAN RAIL PASS'. We are confident that this will benefit many who wish to travel. This represents ANA's recognition within the travel industry."

"JAPAN RAIL PASS" was established in May 1981, to help enhance the convenience of sight-seeing within Japan, enabling travelers to board almost any train on the JR lines throughout the country.

Eligibility:
1. non-Japanese tourist, with a "temporary visitor" visa
2. Japanese national living in a foreign country, and meets one of the following:
1) possessing a permanent residency visa (i.e. green card)of a non-Japanese country;
2) residing in a non-Japanese country for 10 or more years;
3) is married to a non-Japanese, of a non-Japanese residence.

Classification:
1. Green (for superior-class Green cars)
2. Ordinary
Both are available as a 7-day, 14-day and 21-day pass.
Purchasing:
Exchange Orders must be purchased before the trip. After arriving in Japan, "JAPAN RAIL PASS" will be given inexchange to the Exchange Order at an applicable JR station.
