ANA to Expand Code-share with United Airlines 10 February, 1999 _ All Nippon Airways (ANA), today filed an application to the Japanese Ministry of Transport for the expansion of code-share operations with alliance partner, United Airlines. The expansion is timed to start with the beginning of daily operations on ANA's new route between Tokyo-Chicago, from April 13*. In addition to code-sharing on ANA's Tokyo-Chicago route, the new agreement would include code-sharing on five United-operated U.S. domestic routes originating from Chicago (a total of 35 flights a week). ANA already shares codes with United on 14 flights a week using United-operated aircraft between Tokyo and Chicago. Through the expanded agreement, the total number of ANA-United code-share flights on the route would increase to 21 flights weekly, offering unparalleled convenience to business and leisure passengers traveling between the two points or to destinations beyond. ANA first began code-share operations with United on a total of 20 domestic and trans-Pacific routes from October 25, 1998. With the opening of ANA's Tokyo-San Francisco route from December 1, 1998, code-share operations were further expanded, and from January 19, code-sharing on ANA and United's Tokyo-Bangkok routes was introduced. Future plans to strengthen ANA's network include code-sharing on the two airlines' Tokyo-Singapore route from March 8, 1999. In addition to code-share operations, ANA and United offer passengers a joint frequent flyer program and through check-in services. ANA-operated flights departing from Tokyo will depart from Narita Airport Terminal 2, while United-operated flights depart from Terminal 1. In Chicago, ANA-operated flights will depart from Terminal 5 and United-wesoperated flights from Terminal 1 of Chicago O'Hare Airport. Details of the code-share expansion may be found on the attached sheet. * subject to government approval New ANA-United Code-share Routes:*
