ANA to Further Expand Code-share
with United Airlines
31 March 1999 - All Nippon Airways (ANA), today filed an application to the Japanese Ministry of Transport for the expansion of code-share operations with alliance partner, United Airlines. Two new routes, Osaka-Seoul and Tokyo-Seoul, will begin operations starting from 15 May. In addition, ANA filed an application for the suspension of its present code-share operation with United Airlines (operated by United) on its Osaka-Los Angeles route from 9 June (10 June departing Osaka.) ANA first began code-share operations with United from October 25, 1998, since which time the code-share network has continued to expand. When ANA's Tokyo-Chicago route is started from 13 April, beyond code-share operations on 5 routes will be introduced. Through the expanded agreement, the total number of ANA-United code-share flights on the Trans-pacific and Asian routes, including domestic routes within the United States and Japan, will increase to 35 routes - a total of 310 flights weekly - offering customers enhanced benefits and convenience for travel within the ANA and United network system.
