ANA Announces Consolidated Results

TOKYO - 29 June 1999 All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. (ANA) today announced its consolidated results for Japanese fiscal 1999, showing a net loss of ¥ 4.7 billion (US$ 39.4 million).

Total revenues stood at ¥ 1.07 trillion (US$ 8.92 billion), a 0.9% decrease over the previous year. Operating profit showed a decrease of ¥ 11.3 billion to an operating loss of ¥ 5.1 billion (US$ 43.0 million), however, recurring profit was up ¥ 317 million to ¥ 487 million (US$ 4.1 million).

Total consolidated assets rose ¥ 12.8 billion to ¥ 1.40 trillion (US$ 11.¥ billion), with a total shareholder capitalization of ¥ 112.3 billion (a decrease of ¥ 5.7 billion).

Wataru Kubo, Managing Director Corporate Finance commented, "Parent company losses brought about by the continued Japanese economic crisis and harsh competition within the airline industry have had a significant effect on our consolidated results, making it a challenging year for the ANA Group.

"However, as recently announced in our Medium-term Corporate plan, we will implement radical reforms to improve the performance of the Group as a whole, focussing on strengthening our balance sheet and overall profitability."

The group predicted that for this fiscal year it would have total revenues of ¥ 1.12 trillion, a recurring loss of ¥ 12.0 billion and a net loss of ¥ 27.0 billion.
