August 3, 1999 - All Nippon Airways today announced that ANA Mileage Club (AMC) will be linked with Thai Airways International's Royal Orchid Plus frequent flyer program, effective 1 September, 1999. Through the new link-up, AMC members will be able to earn and redeem miles on a total of 14 different airlines, including all eight members of the Star Alliance network, the first truly global alliance of airlines.
Joining frequent flyer programs with THAI allows some 4,000,000 AMC members the chance to collect miles and claim awards on any of Thai Airways International's routes to 73 cities in 35 countries.
Additionally, for a three month period from 1 September to 30 November, 1999, ANA will introduce a special "Star Alliance Bonus Mileage Campaign". During the campaign, AMC members using international services departing or arriving Japan on ANA or any of the current Star Alliance members will receive a first flight bonus - meaning more miles for travel within the Star Alliance network, which will cover over 760 destinations in more than 112 countries once ANA joins in October of this year.
