ANA to Add Boeing 777-300 Longer-Range Derivative
- ANA to Act as Launch Customer, Begin Operations of New Model During Fiscal 2005 -

24 July, 2000 — All Nippon Airways (ANA), today announced its decision to add the B777-300 Longer-Range Derivative to its existing fleet.

ANA plans to take delivery of a total of six of the new aircraft type, converting an existing order for four B777 aircraft and placing two additional orders. Delivery and operations are scheduled to begin during fiscal 2005 (April 1, 2004-March 31, 2005), and delivery of the two newly ordered aircraft will take place during fiscal 2007 (April 1, 2006-March 31, 2007).

The B777-300 Longer-Range Derivative, a derivative of the Boeing 777-300, is the same height and length as the B777-300. However, the B777-300 Longer-Range Derivative is capable of longer distances due to an increased engine thrust*, making it a state-of-the-art long-haul twin-engine jet.

The B777-300 Longer-Range Derivative's seat capacity and range (comparable to the B747-400), operating efficiency and passenger comfort will enhance ANA's fleet flexibility, enabling the company to more efficiently adjust aircraft deployment to changes in international passenger flows and supporting greater overall fleet profitability. In addition, design commonality between the new aircraft type and ANA's current Boeing 777 generation fleet will help the company realize cost efficiencies in areas ranging from flight operations to maintenance, crew training, and components purchasing.

While continuing to monitor market demand, ANA plans to use the aircraft on long-haul international routes, including those to Europe and the United States.

ANA's involvement with the B777 began with ANA's participation in the "Working Together" program, the basis of the design for the Boeing 777-200. ANA began operations of the B777-200 in December 1995, later adding the Boeing 777-300 (in July 1998) and the Boeing 777-200ER (in October 1999). ANA currently operates a total of 20 B777 aircraft.

TWA will code-share on a total of eight ANA operated routes: New York-Tokyo, Chicago-Tokyo, Los Angeles-Tokyo, San Francisco-Tokyo, Honolulu-Tokyo, Honolulu-Nagoya, Honolulu-Osaka, and Guam-Osaka. Mail transport services will begin on the same date.

* The new aircraft will be equipped with GE90-115B engines
