JR EAST & ANA Join Forces in 'Rail and Air' Link-up - seamless products ease passenger travel on the ground and in the air - |
|
TOKYO December 6, 2007 - ANA and JR East today announced a tie up at a press conference held in the ANA InterContinental Hotel, Tokyo. In order to provide greater and more convenient services to customers, the CEOs of Japan's biggest rail company and Japan's biggest domestic airline outlined a comprehensive agreement designed to seamlessly maximise the synergies of rail and air travel, including the following: |
| |
| 1) Points for Mileage |
| From February 2008, ANA Mileage Club (AMC) mileage can be exchanged for Suica Points, giving AMC members more ways to redeem their mileage as well as the convenience of using JR East's contactless-chip function, Suica, to ride trains, monorail, buses and subways in Greater Tokyo, or to make electronic-money purchases wherever they see the Suica sign. |
| |
| 2) Credit Card (Visa) with Suica and SKiP |
A new Visa credit card - called ANA Suica Card - will combine ANA Card (ANA's credit card) and View Card (JR East's credit card) with Suica, giving customers the opportunity to earn ANA mileage when they make credit purchases and Suica Points whenever they make purchases with Suica electronic money. Of course, they can use the card for multi-modal travel in the Greater Tokyo area, and redeem ANA mileage as Suica Points. Customers can also use the card to take advantage of ANA's revolutionary boarding system, SKiP. In other words, they can purchase air tickets, take a train to the airport and board their flight using just a single card that requires no more than a simple touch at the station gate, airport security and the airport gate - no tickets, no check-in, no boarding passes, no waiting in line. | 3) Link between ANA and JR East websites |
| |
- |
Customers can move seamlessly between ANA SKY WEB and JR East's Eki-net site to buy rail and air products from either company on either website |
| |
- |
Similarly, corporate customers using ANA@desk or JR East's Business Eki-net for their corporate travel needs can link smoothly from one site to the other to buy rail and air products with ease |
|
| |
| 4) Travel Packages |
| JR East's Otona no Kyujitsu Club and ANA's Tabidachi membership websites will offer special travel packages combining the best of both companies, and at the same time allow members of one site to purchase products from the other. |
| |
| "With this tie-up we are really setting a new standard for travel within Japan, " said ANA's President & CEO, Mineo Yamamoto. "From buying to flying, and everything in between, our customers' experience will become easier and more convenient - and their choice wider than ever before - thanks to our partnership with JR East," he continued. |
