TOKYO June 25, 2010 - ANA will introduce ‘ANA × GUNDAM JET’ from July 16, 2010, which will carry special livery with graphics of Mobile Suit GUNDAM (Kido Senshi GUNDAM), a robot character from the eponymous animated TV series that took Japan by storm in the eighties and has remained popular for more than 30 years.

The initiative is part of ANA × GUNDAM SKY PROJECT, a collaborative effort among ANA, BANDAI Co., Ltd., SOTSU Co., Ltd., and SUNRISE to celebrate the 30^th anniversary of GUNDAM model kits’ sales.

Mobile Suit GUNDAM animated TV series were first aired in 1979 and by the early eighties, it became known as “Real Robot series” for their realism, and pioneered a revolution in robot-themed anime. The series initially targeted a teenage audience and to this day it has a strong fan base in Japan. Last year, a life-sized GUNDAM model made headlines when it was installed in Tokyo’s Odaiba Island to celebrate the series’ 30^th anniversary.

The ANA × GUNDAM JET, which displays real-life size graphics of the robot on the side of the aircraft, will make its first run between Haneda (Tokyo) and Itami (Osaka) on July 16 and will later operate on other ANA domestic routes until March 2011. Furthermore, ANA will retail special-edition GUNDAM model kits, exclusively designed with ANA corporate colors, on its international flights between July 1, 2010 and February 28, 2011.
