ANA Finalizes the FY2017 Wine Selection on International Flights
ANA launches an original blend

TOKYO, May 29, 2017 - From June 2017, ANA will provide the following premium wine and champagne selection in First Class and Business Class on international routes.

ANA has been holding wine tasting sessions to select wines for the in-flight wine list through a project involving Ned Goodwin (holder of the title Master of Wine, the most prestigious title in the global wine industry) and Katsuhito Inoue (Senior Sommelier), two leading wine experts and members of ANA's "The Connoisseurs" team, as well as cabin crew with sommelier qualifications, in addition to chefs responsible for in-flight meals, and ANA staff responsible for service planning. After starting with a total of approximately 2400 wines from 15 different countries, around 300 wines chosen on the basis of a review of supporting documents were subject to blind testing over approximately 6 months and 29 wines were finally selected. The wines included in the final selection are from a variety of regions including not only Europe but also South America, Oceania and South Africa. Each of the wines has its own distinct characteristics, but overall the selection provides a fine balance.

From September, the warmly-received ANA original blend wine will be available for the first time in business class. The wine has been blended by Ned Goodwin to take account of the way taste and smell faculties may differ when in an airplane rather than on the ground. The white wine, made from grapes grown with environmentally-friendly cultivation methods in South Australia, harmonizes well with various types of cuisine. The red wine is full-bodied yet smooth.
