ANA HOLDINGS Announces International Cultural Exchange
Partnership with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo

First concert series to be held in Vietnam


TOKYO, November 28, 2017 - ANA HOLDINGS (hereafter ANA HD) has today announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo, regarding its concerts outside of Japan. ANA HD will be proactively supporting the Orchestra's activities internationally.

Both the NHK Symphony Orchestra and ANA HD are strengthening their overseas presence; the NHK Symphony Orchestra is led by its internationally renowned Chief Conductor Paavo Järvi, and ANA HD is expanding its business through focusing on its network of international routes.

ANA HD has supported the NHK Symphony Orchestra's overseas concerts in the past. This new comprehensive partnership will draw upon each party's respective expertise to further promote international exchange through the universal language of music.

The first overseas concert organized under this new agreement is expected to be held in Vietnam in September 2018*1.

The NHK Symphony Orchestra is involved in activities across Asia, a region which has demonstrated exceptional growth in music. These activities include the exchange of musicians with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.

ANA operates three flights per day from Tokyo (Haneda/ Narita) to Vietnam (Hanoi/ Ho Chi Minh City) as part of its increasingly comprehensive network of flights from Japan to 14 cities across Asia.

2018 marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam, and this September 2018 concert series aims to further promote international exchange between the two countries.

About NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo
The history of the NHK Symphony Orchestra dates back to October 5th, 1926 when a professional orchestra called the New Symphony Orchestra was formed. After being briefly called the Japan Symphony Orchestra, it was renamed the NHK Symphony Orchestra when it began to receive full financial support from Nippon Hoso Kyokai (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) in 1951. The orchestra continually invited many of the world's most renowned conductors of the time, including Karajan, Ansermet, Keilberth and Matačić, to name but a few, and worked with some of the world's most celebrated soloists to offer the public innumerable outstanding performances. In recent years, the orchestra has presented approximately 120 concerts nationwide annually, including 54 subscription concerts.
