As an Official Airline Partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, ANA held events focusing on the relationship between sports and culture as well as the realization of a harmonious society to generate further excitement and mark 2 years to go to Tokyo 2020 Games.
Haneda Airport Terminal 2 was specially decorated for these events between July 24 and September 6, 2018. Sports taster sessions and workshops for ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) and expanding ink pen art were also held on July 28 and August 19.
These events also featured special guests, which created a buzz among the many people passing through the airport for their summer holidays.
ANA will continue to foster enthusiasm for the Olympic Movement and the Paralympic Movement in its role as an official partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.
The second floor departure lobby in Terminal 2 was decorated to mark 2 years to go to Tokyo 2020 Games. Posters featuring ANA-sponsored athletes in action were displayed within the terminal to give everyone a taste of the Tokyo 2020 Games.
A Table Tennis taster session and ikebana workshop were held.
At the Table Tennis session, participants were taught how to play by top players and given the opportunity to play against them!
The Ikebana workshop was led by the IKENOBOYS, a group of young male ikebana professionals who strive to convey the profound nature and beauty of this traditional cultural practice. Their presence as instructors allowed everyone to try out flower arrangement in a relaxed atmosphere.
Swimmers Runa Imai and Fuyu Yoshida, who joined the earlier Table Tennis taster session, also participated in the workshop.

Families and people of all ages from young children to adults took part in the day's festivities.
Participants put their all into the activities, and aimed to improve the accuracy of their shots and produce perfect flower arrangements.

Comedian Yutaro Hamada and former footballer Tsuyoshi Kitazawa were the special guests at the opening event.
The pair announced the sports taster session and the culture and art workshop available on the day, while also giving some mini-demonstrations.

Participants were also treated to a Football 5-a-side ( blind soccer ) taster session. Through this, many children and adults were able to experience a blindfolded kickabout for the first time in their lives.

The expanding ink pen art workshop was attended by Satoly, an artist driving the normalization movement.
Participants drew a variety of pictures with expanding ink pens, which produce ink that expands when heated up.

Given that the events were held on a Saturday and Sunday during the summer holidays, a great number of people were using the airport and many took part in the activities. Those who played Football 5-a-side ( blind soccer ) commented how difficult it was to play while blindfolded, while those trying out the expanding ink pen art were impressed with how well their own efforts turned out.
We hope these events made the summer holidays all the more enjoyable!
