When 2 Sectors Have Different Seasonalities

If the first sector has a different seasonality than the second sector, 50% of the required mileage for each respective season will be used to calculate the total amount of miles required for redemption.

Example

1. Calculate the Total Basic Sector Mileage

Total = 567 miles

2. Confirm the Itinerary Mileage

Itinerary Mileage = 0-600 miles

3. Confirm Departure Date Seasonalities

August 5, 2017 = Regular Season; August 15, 2017 = High Season

4. Confirm the Required Mileage
  • For the first sector (0-600 itinerary miles range in regular season), 12,000 miles are required for award redemption.
  • For the second sector (0-600 itinerary miles range in high season), 15,000 miles are required for award redemption.
Required Mileage

12,000 miles ÷ 2 = 6,000 miles

+

15,000 miles ÷ 2 = 7,500 miles

13,500 miles

Routes to/from Okinawa's Outlying Islands

If a 4-sector itinerary involves flights to/from outlying islands in Okinawa Prefecture (Miyako or Ishigaki) and a connection in Naha, and the sectors have different seasonalities, 25% of the required mileage for each respective sector will be used to calculate the total amount of miles (basic sector mileage) for the entire itinerary.

Example

1. Calculate the Total Basic Sector Mileage

Total = 2,462 miles

2. Confirm the Itinerary Mileage

Itinerary Mileage = 2,001-4,000 miles

3. Confirm Departure Date Seasonalities

Tokyo-Okinawa = Low Season

Okinawa-Ishigaki-Okinawa-Tokyo = Regular Season

4. Confirm the Required Mileage
  • For the first sector (2,001-4,000 itinerary miles range in low season), 17,000 miles are required for award redemption.
  • For the second sector (2,001-4,000 itinerary miles range in regular season), 20,000 miles are required for award redemption.
  • For the third sector (2,001-4,000 itinerary miles range in regular season), 20,000 miles are required for award redemption.
  • For the fourth sector (2,001-4,000 itinerary miles range in regular season), 20,000 miles are required for award redemption.
Required Mileage

17,000 miles ÷ 4 = 4,250 miles

+

20,000 miles ÷ 4 = 5,000 miles

+

20,000 miles ÷ 4 = 5,000 miles

+

20,000 miles ÷ 4 = 5,000 miles

19,250 miles

  • 1 The itinerary mileage is the sum of the basic sector mileage for each of the 2 sectors.
    When redeeming an award for a one-way itinerary (1 sector), the basic sector mileage is multiplied by 2 and the corresponding required mileage will apply.
    Refer to the mileage charts to check the basic sector mileage for sectors which are not indicated above.
  • *The required mileage when using a one-way itinerary is equivalent to 50% of the required mileage for a same-sector roundtrip itinerary.
    If the basic sector mileage for the 2 sectors are different, it is possible to use each sector separately.

<Example of Required Mileage Confirmation>

2 sectors (Tokyo-Kumamoto, Kumamoto-Osaka) are used during regular season.

■ When using an award for 2 sectors:

Tokyo-Kumamoto (basic sector mileage: 568 miles) + Kumamoto-Osaka (basic sector mileage: 290 miles) = 858 miles
Confirm the required mileage for the 601-1,600 mile range.
The required mileage for the 2 sectors = 15,000 miles

■ When using awards for each sector separately (reservations and tickets required for each sector):

Tokyo-Kumamoto (basic sector mileage: 568 miles x 2) = 1,136 miles
Confirm the required mileage for the 601-1,600 mile range.
The required mileage for this one-way sector = 7,500 miles

Kumamoto-Osaka (basic sector mileage: 290 miles x 2) = 580 miles
Confirm the required mileage for the 0-600 mile range.
The required mileage for this one-way sector = 6,000 miles
