Passengers bringing vegetable and fruits into Japan

From November 24 , 2016, Regulatory on bringing vegetables and fruits into Japan is partially revised. Items listed below may need certification before being imported into Japan.

Examples of restricted items

  • ■Examples of vegetables and fruits that require certificates※ when imported from the USA and Canada
    Lettuce, Arugula, Tomato, Kale, Broccoli, Cabbage, Spinach, etc.
    ※ A phytosanitary certificate issued by the government of the exporting country is required.
  • ■Examples of vegetables and fruits that are banned from being imported from the USA and Canada
    Cherries, Apple, Pear, Peach, Plum, etc.
  • ■Examples of vegetables and fruits that require certificates※ when imported from Germany
    Celery, Coriander, Cabbage, Kale, Broccoli, Parsley, etc.
    ※ A phytosanitary certificate issued by the government of the exporting country is required.
  • ■Examples of vegetables and fruits that are banned from being imported from Germany
    Apple, Pear, Peach, Plum, Tomato, etc.
  • ■Examples of vegetable and fruits that require certificates※ when imported from France
