Refunds for Unused Domestic Awards

Customers who wish to request a mileage refund for a domestic award ticket may do so only if all sectors have not been used. After the designated amount of miles is deducted as a refund charge, the miles will be refunded to the mileage account.

Please contact the ANA Mileage Club Service Desk or the relevant AMC Members Desk during business hours prior to the departure of the first reserved flight in the itinerary.

*If reservations and ticketing were completed for each sector separately, a 3,000 mile refund charge is required for each customer and each sector.

Expiration Dates for Refunded Miles

Expiration dates will be based on the accrual month of the miles that were used to redeem the award.

Example 1: When 20,000 miles are refunded for an unused award on October 1, 2015

  • *20,000 miles are eligible to be refunded to the accrual month prior to ticket issuance. The "oldest" miles (earliest accrual month) are used for the 3,000-mile refund charge that is deducted.

Example 2: When 20,000 miles are refunded for an unused award on May 10, 2017

  • *When some miles have expired at the time of the refund.

  • *Of the 20,000 miles, 17,000 are eligible to be refunded to the same accrual month as the month of ticket issuance. The 3,000 miles which had expired on April 30, 2017 are not refunded. Part of the miles accrued in May 2014 are used for the 3,000-mile refund charge that is deducted.

Refund Procedures for Unused Awards

  • *Refund procedures for unused awards cannot be completed at the airport.

Notes

  • Refund requests must be made during the business hours indicated above. Requests must be received by ANA by 10 days after the award ticket's expiration date.
  • If the reserved flight was not canceled in advance, the unused award will not be eligible for refunds.
  • Miles that have expired at the time of refund processing cannot be refunded.
  • If the number of miles that are eligible to be refunded is less than what is required for the refund charge, a refund cannot be given.
  • If multiple customers are under an award to be refunded, the refund charge will be applied to each customer.
  • After the miles have been refunded, the refund charge will be deducted from the "oldest" (earliest accrual month and year) non-expired miles in the mileage account.
