TOKYO, March 15, 2006 - ANA and Asiana announced today that they will enter a cargo code-sharing agreement on freighter flights between Japan and Korea, with a planned start of April 1 this year. Under the agreement, a total 18 weekly flights between the two countries will carry both the ANA code, NH, and that of Asiana, OZ. This will be the first cargo code-sharing agreement between a Japanese and Korean airline. ANA and Asiana, both members of Star Alliance, already enjoy a code-sharing relationship on passenger flights. This new agreement is a natural progression which both airlines hope will allow them to maximize their potential in the important and expanding Japan-Korea market, and better serve the needs of their customers. ANA operates 10 weekly flights using Boeing 767-300F freighter aircraft on routes from Tokyo Narita, Osaka Kansai and Nagoya to Seoul. ANA took delivery of its third freighter of this kind on February 14 this year, and will increase the fleet to four 767-300F aircraft within 2006, as it grows its presence in the cargo market. Asiana's freighter fleet consists of nine aircraft operated across a global network, including the very latest Boeing 747-400F derivative, which was delivered on February 25 this year. Asiana operates eight weekly flights between Seoul and Osaka Kansai, Nagoya and Sendai in northern Japan. |
