Passengers from Japan may bypass the State of Hawai‘i's mandatory 10-day quarantine if they take a COVID-19 test from a trusted testing partner in Japan. The test must be taken no earlier than 72 hours prior to departure and the test must be negative.
The Hawai‘i State Department of Health (DOH) has approved the use of the COVID-19 Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) conducted by a laboratory authorized by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare for the pre-travel test.
For further details, please refer to the COVID-19 STATE of HAWAI'I PORTAL.

Upon arrival, an automatic temperature screening system will take passengers' temperatures at the gate. (Young children will have their temperature taken separately by airport staff.)
If passengers arrive in Hawai‘i without valid proof of a negative COVID-19 NAAT, they will be subject to the State of Hawai‘i’s strict 10-day mandatory self-quarantine requirement.
Individuals violating this self-quarantine will be subject to a fine or imprisonment.
After arrival, you will also be required to present a cell phone (or local contact information) on which you will be contactable during the self-quarantine period, so please ensure that your cell phone has sufficient charge before bringing it with you.
