Lounge Amenity Renewal Utilizing Environmentally Friendly Materials

2025/06/20

ANA has introduced new environmentally friendly amenities in the shower rooms in ANA lounges at Haneda Airport and Narita Airport*1, starting in mid-April 2025.

Introducting Our Newly Revamped Amenities

Our lounges feature shower rooms equipped with amenities such as toothbrushes and slippers. We are pleased to announce that these amenities have been recently transitioned to environmentally conscious materials.

Our Contribution to Reducing Plastic Waste

Previously, our amenities utilized plastic for both packaging and the product itself. As part of our commitment to sustainability, this renewal introduces materials incorporating recycled plastic and biodegradable biomass*2. This shift has resulted in a 38% reduction in plastic usage for our lounge amenities (compared to fiscal year 2019).

Biodegradable biomass refers to plastics derived from bio-based resources (biomass) that are decomposed by microorganisms.

Passion Behind the Project

Six amenity items have been renewed

What were the primary reasons for this renewal?

Building upon our ongoing commitment to ESG initiatives, primarily focused on in-flight amenities, we have expanded our efforts to encompass the lounge experience. Following careful consideration, we are pleased to announce the transition to environmentally conscious materials for the amenities provided in the shower rooms of ANA lounges.

What critical factors guided the final product selection from a wide array of options?

First and foremost, our primary criterion was the use of environmentally conscious materials. We prioritized products with low levels of petroleum-derived raw materials and assessed the extent to which they incorporated more sustainable materials. For packaging, we focused on using paper instead of plastic. Regarding the product contents, we selected items made with natural, eco-friendly ingredients such as non-edible rice, crushed rice, and corn.
Secondly, design consistency was a key consideration. As the amenities are displayed together in the shower rooms for customers to choose what they need, a cohesive design across the range was also a selection point.

What are the special aspects you paid attention to?

Ensuring that our customers continue to experience the same level of comfort as with our current amenities was paramount. With this in mind, we also focused on the packaging design to visually communicate the use of environmentally conscious materials.
Through these renewed amenities, we aspire to garner your support for ANA's ongoing commitment to fostering a more sustainable society.

These amenities are available in the shower rooms of the following lounges:

  • All lounges at Narita Airport
  • All lounges for international flights at Haneda Airport
  • The ANA SUITE LOUNGE for domestic flights at Haneda Airport

The ANA Group will continue to strive for the effective use of limited resources.
