Takato Castle Remains Park

Indulge in spring with beautiful cherry blossoms in Takato Castle Remains Park in Nagano Prefecture
About 1,500 cherry trees that spread throughout the park are the Takato Kohigan-zakura variety, which has slightly smaller and more reddish petals compared with the famous Somei Yoshino variety. The distinctive petals have long been considered the best cherry blossoms in the whole country and the park has been selected as one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots. The best time to see cherry blossoms is from early to middle of April. During the peak viewing period, the entire park becomes covered with pink, fascinating approximately 200,000 visitors.
Cherry blossoms in full bloom glow at night
Cherry blossoms at dusk are also exceptional. “Yozakura,” or night cherry blossoms, captivate visitors with their wondrous beauty that cannot be seen during the day. In the evening, when it starts to get dark, go visit the Ounkyo Bridge (cherry blossom cloud bridge), which is one of the best spots within the park. As you go down to the moat, you will be amazed by the cherry blossoms over the pond that creates a beautiful reflection on the water, while the cherry trees seen from the bridge make you feel as if you are literally surrounded by clouds of cherry blossoms. Indulge in the magical world of pink clouds lit up in the night.
