Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

Kaiyukan, one of the world's largest aquariums with numerous innovative exhibits
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan is located in the bay area of Osaka Port, an area filled with various tourist facilities and shops. The oceans of the Pacific Rim are reproduced in numerous exhibits such as the Pacific Ocean tank and 13 other large tanks, in which 30,000 creatures of 620 species including whale sharks are on view. A truly stunning sight is the 9-meter-deep tank that utilizes the height of the building. The new Interactive Exhibit area "Look, Listen, Smell and Feel" as well as the jellyfish exhibit area Jellyfish Galaxy are also must-see!
Pacific Ocean tank
The main tank of the aquarium recreates the Pacific Ocean, the world's largest ocean surrounded by five continents, in a giant tank that is 9 meters deep, 34 meters long and containing 5,400 tons of water. It was created by opening up the building from the fourth through the sixth floor. The Pacific Ocean tank is home to the whale shark, which is the symbol of the Kaiyukan, as well as other large sharks, rays, migratory fish such as horse mackerels and groupers.
Jellyfish Galaxy
Jellyfishes leisurely float through the coal-black space of the Jellyfish Galaxy. The fantastical area creates a feeling of traveling through the galaxy. Around 10 kinds of jellyfish are on view, including the moon jellyfish. You may never get tired of watching the delicate movement and beauty of the jellyfishes.
New Interactive Exhibit area "Look, Listen, Smell and Feel"
This new interactive area brings you up and close with various creatures. You can even touch the fish swimming in front of you. Through actual sensations such as temperature, sound and smell, you can experience the world of the living creatures and appreciate the importance of nature and the environment.
