Soak in the hot spring waters with beautifying benefits in natural surroundings
Located just 30 minutes by car from Sendai City in Miyagi Prefecture, Sakunami Onsen surrounded by abundant nature is a famous hot spring village steeped in a 200-year history. Known as "Bijin-zukuri-no-yu," or water that makes women beautiful, the quality, abundant hot spring water which is gentle on the skin has been appreciated by many cultural figures since ancient times. Being a famous producer of kokeshi dolls, huge dolls welcome you at the entrance of the village. Soak in the healing waters while listening to the sounds of the murmuring stream.
A “Sacred Place for Lovers”: A hot spring village for lovers and couples
The entire village of Sakunami Onsen was selected as a "Sacred Place for Lovers." Yukami Shrine dedicated to the god of hot springs has been protecting the village since ancient times, but in recent years, the shrine is also believed to bring luck in romance. Statues of the local deity "Koi no Oyukake Jizo" blessed at Yukami Shrine are enshrined in five inns and Plaza Lasanta tourist information center. So, while enjoying a bath at respective inns, why not sprinkle each deity with spring water and make a wish for love to come true?
