Uwa City

Uwa, located on the highway linking Matsuyama and Uwajima, used to prosper as an inn town and country town of the Uwajima Domain.

Buildings from the late Edo period to the early Showa period line the streets of Unomachi, which is also designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. This town used to thrive as an intellectual hub, and when walking through the streets, you will really be able to feel the passion the residents had as pioneers of culture and enlightenment.
