Mikadomatsu is a fresh, fruity-flavored sake that has won the gold prize in the National Sake Award Competition for eight consecutive years. Using natural water rich in minerals from the Chichibu Mountains drawn from 130 meters below the ground, Matsuoka Brewery makes sake using traditional techniques carried on for 160 years since its foundation. The brewery also welcomes tours and tastings. In addition, the Mikadomatsu Sake Brewery Festival held in February every year attracts over 5,000 sake fans from all over the country.

Saitama-produced ingredients and sake brewery original menus
The restaurant’s specialty lunch menu is the Sake Tasting Set loaded with locally produced ingredients from Saitama and three types of sake tastings that change monthly. Musashi wheat-fed pork shabushabu is served with dashi broth made using Mikadomatsu's brewing water and daiginjo top-quality sake. The sauce is also arranged with Mikadomatsu's salted rice malt and sake lees. The vegetables and rice are also of the Saitama brand. (Reservations required)

An array of things to see in Ogawa, a little Kyoto
The town of Ogawa is called “Musashi’s Little Kyoto” for its traditional industries of brewing, joinery, kimono linings and the handmade washi paper Hosokawa Paper, registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 1988. Dogtooth violets and cherry blossoms bloom in the spring, and there are also many historical buildings to tour.
