Kumagai Residence

Save to List

The Kumagai Residence is located in Oda City, Shimane Prefecture. This restored house reminds us of the time when Iwami Ginzan produced one third of the world's silver.

The Kumagai Residence

Now restored and open for visiting, the Kumagai Residence was once home to the wealthiest merchant family during the time when the Iwami Ginzan silver mine prospered.

The rooms inside give visitors an insight on upper class life back in the 17th century, with displays of tableware, kimonos, and other family possessions.
