Yonago Castle Ruins

Save to List

Yonago Castle was built on top of the 90-meter high Minatoyama in central Yonago City, and is sometimes called "Kume Castle". From the ruins, you can look out over West Hoki. The view from the castle mound is loved by the local populace.

The original building has been completely destroyed, but it was the first early-modern castle built in the Sanin region.
The stone walls and foundation stones keep the shape of the castle, and many reference and picture documents have been passed down in good condition. The ruins were designated a National Historic Site in 2006.

The area around Minatoyama is known as "Minatoyama Park", and is used as a place of relaxation by residents. As well as cherry blossom season, it’s worth visiting any time of year to take a leisurely stroll while enjoying the seasonal flowers.
