Izumo Grand Shrine
The Izumo Grand Shrine is a shrine registered as a World Heritage site located in Taisha Town, Izumo City in Shimane Prefecture. This is one of the major shrines in Japan. Its amulets and goshuin (shrine's seal stamped onto a notebook) are very popular, and the shrine is also known for its god of matchmaking. There are lots of restaurants serving Izumo soba noodles in the neighborhood, so the areas surrounding the shrine are also not to be missed.
Every year during November, it is said that the gods leave their seats of power throughout Japan and come to Izumo.
