We are implementing concrete measures to counter climate change. The ANA Group will continue to proactively use leading-edge, environmentally friendly aircraft such as the Boeing 787, for which it was the launch customer. Other measures include devising flight procedures and implementing our own upgrades to improve aerodynamic characteristics, conducting regular engine washing, and reducing the weight of onboard equipment and articles.
In its environmental and social contribution activities, the ANA Group cooperates with customers, communities and other stakeholders to promote unique activities with the warmth of the ANA Character in which Group employees break a sweat as volunteers.
Aiming to be one of the world’s leading eco-friendly airlines, the ANA Group will continue to take on challenges for the future of the planet.

Looking ahead to 2020, when an international global warming countermeasure framework to replace the Kyoto Protocol is expected to take effect, in April 2012 the ANA Group established the medium-to-long-term environmental plan ANA FLY ECO 2020. Under ANA FLY ECO 2020, the ANA Group is continuing its basic principle of regarding global warming as the core environmental issue to address, and has set numerical targets that take global standards into account. The Group aims to remain one of the world’s leading eco-friendly airlines by achieving this medium-tolong- term environmental plan.
The use of the three electric vehicles we introduced in the fiscal year ended March 2012 for one year is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately five tons. The ANA Group will energetically introduce electric and other low-pollution vehicles at airports throughout Japan.
Introducing Electric Vehicles for Operational Use at Haneda and Narita Airports
In March 2012, the ANA Group introduced its first electric vehicle at Narita Airport for use in ground handling and service operations, followed by two electric vehicles later the same month at Haneda Airport. Subsequently, we have continued to introduce electric vehicles. While the Group has previously introduced electric forklifts and small tractors for indoor work at airport facilities such as aircraft repair bays and cargo storage sheds, during the fiscal year ended March 2012 we introduced our first electric vehicles for airport-wide outdoor operational use for purposes such as conveying staff and transporting goods. The use of the three electric vehicles we introduced in the fiscal year ended March 2012 for one year is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately five tons.
