Examples of Fraudulent Emails and Fraudulent Calls

As ANA is a Japanese company, many different types of Japanese-language fraudulent emails have been identified.
Below are some examples of known fraudulent emails and calls. We will keep this page updated with the latest known examples, so please check back regularly.

Examples of fraudulent emails

Fraudulent emails that misuse ANA and ANA Group company names to obtain personal information have been sent to an unspecified large number of people, regardless of whether they are ANA Mileage Club members or have booked or boarded an ANA flight.

These are fictitious emails sent from spoofed versions of our email address by third parties. They prompt the receiver to enter personal information in order to steal it.

In addition, if you receive an email from an ANA service you do not remember registering for that asks you to change your email address, please delete it without accessing the URL in the email.

Example: Mileage expiration date extension service

These emails often look like they're from legitimate ANA domains, such as "@ana.co.jp."
Subject lines might try to alarm you with phrases like "Security Alert" or "Account Problem." The email body will then ask you to enter sensitive information, such as your "customer number," "web password," or even "credit card information." Sometimes, they include attached PDF files that contain suspicious links.

Example: Notice of special bonus miles

Beware of emails with subjects like "Notice of ANA Mileage Club Special Bonus Miles." These emails often promise you bonus miles and encourage you to complete a survey or click a URL. The website you're directed to may then try to trick you into providing your personal information.

Examples of fraudulent calls

We've received reports of suspicious phone calls from individuals pretending to be from the ANA Group. These callers use false claims like "terms of service violations" or "malicious flight cancellations" to make you anxious. They might even threaten to suspend your passport or social security number (like Japan's My Number system) to pressure you into giving them your personal information.
If you receive such a suspicious call, please hang up immediately.
Do not engage with them or provide any information.

  • "Multiple terms of service violations have been confirmed on your account. Your passport and My Number usage rights may be temporarily suspended in two hours."

  • "We're calling about a malicious flight cancellation. You've been fraudulently using a credit card for bookings on external websites and repeatedly canceling flights. If you ignore this, you'll be unable to use any airlines in the future. We need some information to verify your identity."
