Items Which Are Not Permitted to Be Checked In or Carried on Board

The air transport of items at risk of explosion, combustion, causing bodily harm, or damaging other property is prohibited by law, and such items are not permitted to be checked in or carried on board. Sharp objects, etc., which have the potential to be used as weapons are not permitted to be carried on board. Please check for any such items before preparing your baggage.

 

Typical examples of items which are not permitted to be checked in or carried on board as well as items which can be checked in or carried on board under certain conditions are posted on the homepage of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Please check in advance to make sure that items applicable to dangerous goods are not contained in your baggage. Please be advised that in the event that it is impossible to confirm whether or not an item can be transported by airplane before the departure time, the request for transport may be rejected.

Importing sweet potatoes (excluding those that have been officially disinfected) and morning glories from Okinawa Prefecture and the Amami Islands, as well as untested citrus plants and camellias from Okinawa Prefecture, Tokunoshima, Okinoerabu Island, and Yoron Island, including seedlings, cuttings, and living stem leaves to the mainland is restricted. Please note that bringing fruits from the gourd family, eggplant family, etc., from Okinawa Prefecture to the mainland is also regulated, and they cannot be checked in or carried on board, so please be aware of this.
