Changes to How You Go Through Security Checkpoints and Boarding Gates for Japan Domestic Flights

From May 2023, we will be gradually rolling out updates to ticket gates at security checkpoints and boarding gates for Japan domestic flights.
The way you go through security checkpoints and boarding gates will change due to these updates.
Passengers will be able to go through without the need for contact and face-to-face encounters with staff, ensuring passengers can easily and seamlessly enjoy a safe trip with peace of mind.
This also contributes to our ESG goals through reducing the use of paper media.

What You Need

Please use online check-in, or have you boarding pass issued at the airport with you when you go through the security and boarding gate.

Mobile Boarding Pass

Issued by a self-service check-in machine

Issued at an airport counter

New security procedures

The new security checking machines will allow passengers to go through without the need for contact and face-to-face encounters with staff.

Applicable Airports

New-Chitose, Tokyo (Haneda), Osaka (Itami), Osaka (Kansai), Nagoya (Chubu), Okinawa, Matsuyama, and Kumamoto

How to Use

STEP 1

When arriving at the security checkpoint

Please make sure you have your boarding pass.
STEP 2

Scan your boarding pass

Please scan your boarding pass on the reader of the security checking machine.
STEP 3

Go through

Follow the instructions on-screen and go through when the gate opens.

Customers Requiring Assistance
When traveling with a child in your arms or in a stroller
If a representative is carrying all the boarding passes
When traveling from an airport not listed above

Follow security staff's instructions and scan your boarding pass on the reader to go through.

The new ticket gates will allow passengers to go through without the need for contact and face-to-face encounters with staff.

Scan the boarding pass for each passenger one at a time and follow the on-screen instructions to go through.
Please have your boarding pass ready.

STEP 1

When arriving at the boarding gate

Please make sure you have your boarding pass.
STEP 2

Scan your boarding pass

Once the person in the front of you has gone through and the gate has closed, scan your boarding pass on the ticket gate reader.
STEP 3

Go through
Follow the instructions on-screen and go through when the gate opens.

If you are issued a seat change information slip (*), please take it and continue going through.

A slip will be issued in the following cases:

Your seat has changed due to aircraft changes.

You scanned an older boarding pass from before the seat had been changed.

Customers Requiring Assistance
When traveling with a child in your arms or in a stroller
If you are carrying a child in your arms, you can go through the gate together with your child.
Please follow the displayed instructions and scan both you and your child's boarding passes.

Passengers with a stroller
Please take your child out of the stroller and carry your child in your arms while going through the ticket gate.
Scan your two boarding passes and the gate will open. Please go through.
If a representative is carrying all the boarding passes

Discontinuance of Security Certificate and Boarding Information

Security Certificate and Boarding Information forms issued at security checkpoints and boarding gates will be discontinued.

Security Certificate

The Security Certificate previously issued at security checkpoints will be discontinued due to the updated machines.
Please check your boarding pass for details such as your boarding gate, group number and seat number.

Boarding information

Boarding Information slips will not be issued from the new ticket gates.
Passengers who previously were using Boarding Information slips as proof of boarding are asked to instead issue a Boarding Certificate.
