Airport Procedures

This page details procedures up to boarding, including check-in and baggage inspection, for passengers traveling on international flights.

Passengers Departing from Airports Served by ANA International Flights

STEP1

Check-in

Please confirm the items required for procedures at the airport.

Boarding procedures at the airport are not required. *1
On the departure date, please bring to the airport either a mobile device that can display your mobile boarding pass (including the 2D barcode) or a printed boarding pass, along with any other necessary travel documentation.

  • *1.Depending on the departure airport, you may be required to complete procedures at the baggage drop counter.

Please confirm the travel documentation required for boarding procedures, as well as your international flight ticket or e-Ticket Itinerary Receipt.
You can perform procedures at the counter or using a self-service check-in machine.

  • Boarding procedures must be completed at least 1 hour before the departure time.
  • Upon check-in, airport staff will check passports, visas, ID cards, and any other necessary documents. Please ensure that you have the required documentation in order.
  • Hours of operation are subject to change without notice. Additionally, hours of operation are subject to sudden changes depending on your flight's status on the day of your flight.
  • Check-in start times for international flights and departure/arrival terminals for departures from airports aside from the above will vary depending on the airport and flight.
  • Departure and arrival terminals may vary for codeshare flights operated by partner airlines. Please contact the operating carrier for further information.
  • The barcode is not transferable to other passengers
STEP2

Baggage Check-in

We will check in any baggage that cannot be taken on board.

Large items of baggage and dangerous goods, including sharp items such as scissors or nail clippers, cannot be taken on board. These items must be checked in.
The free checked baggage allowance will depend on your travel class and route. Please also be careful not to check in any valuables.

Customers checking in baggage should proceed to the baggage drop counter.
Customers without baggage to check in should proceed directly to security.

Customers with baggage to check in should proceed to the baggage drop counter indicated by the sign on the right at least 60 minutes prior to departure. For baggage counter opening times, please check the ANA international airport check-in counter opening times.

Customers checking in baggage should do so at the check-in counter.
Customers without baggage to check in should proceed to security.

STEP3

Security

Make sure that you do not have any dangerous goods in your possession.

Security has been enhanced at all airports in recent years to prevent hijacking and terrorism. We ask for your cooperation in ensuring safe travel for all passengers.

STEP4

Immigration

Please show your passport for inspection.

Please show both your passport and flight ticket for immigration inspection. Depending on the country, you may need to fill out an immigration card. (Japanese nationals do not need to fill out a Japanese immigration card.)
You can take advantage of the duty free shops once you have passed through immigration.

Passengers with tickets or cards granting access can relax in an eligible lounge before departure.

STEP5

Boarding Gate

Please make your way to the boarding gate at least 30 minutes before the departure time.

Finish any shopping you wish to do and proceed to the boarding gate with plenty of time to spare. Airports are surprisingly large, and you could miss your flight if you go to the wrong boarding gate. The departure time refers to the time by which all passengers have boarded and the plane leaves the gate. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

  • You may be unable to board your flight if you do not come to the boarding gate at least 10 minutes prior to departure.

Passengers Connecting from an ANA Japan Domestic Flight to an ANA International Flight

Procedures at the Departure Airport for the Japan Domestic Flight

STEP1

Check-in

Please confirm the items required for procedures at the airport.

Please confirm the travel documentation required for boarding procedures, as well as your international flight ticket or e-Ticket Itinerary Receipt. To complete the procedures, please use a self-service check-in machine or go to a counter at the departure airport for your Japan domestic flight.

Upon performing procedures at the airport, you will be given a Domestic Check-in Notice and a boarding pass for your international flight.

  • Please see Check-in at the Airport for further information on procedures.
  • Please complete procedures at the airport at least 30 minutes before departure.
  • At Kitakyushu and Iki airports, procedures can only be carried out for Japan domestic flights. Please complete procedures for your international flight at the departure airport for that flight.
  • The barcode is not transferable to other passengers.
STEP2

Baggage Check-in

Customers checking in baggage should proceed to the baggage drop counter.
Customers without baggage to check in should proceed directly to security.

Customers checking in baggage should do so at the baggage drop counter or international connection counter.
Customers without baggage to check in should proceed to security.

  • When traveling between Haneda and Narita airports or Itami and Kansai airports to connect from a Japan domestic flight to an international flight, your baggage will be checked in for your international flight at the departure airport for that flight.
  • Please visit the international connections counter at the airports below.
    Sapporo (New Chitose) / Nagoya (Chubu) / Osaka (Itami) / Fukuoka / Okinawa (Naha)
STEP3

Security

  1. Please scan your Domestic Check-in Notice, printed boarding pass, or the 2D barcode on your mobile boarding pass on the SKiP reader at security.
  2. Please wait until your boarding pass is issued. This contains your seat number and boarding gate.
STEP4

Boarding Gate

Please come to the boarding gate at least 10 minutes prior to the departure time. When passing through the boarding gate, please scan the 2D barcode, which you scanned at security, on the SKiP reader located at the ticket gate.

  • Please be aware that you may not be able to board your flight if you are not present at the boarding gate at least 10 minutes prior to departure, even if you have completed procedures for your international flight. The boarding gate can also be confirmed on the flight information board at the airport.

Procedures at Departure Airports for International Flights (Narita, Haneda, Kansai and Nagoya)

STEP1

Check-in

Passengers who have completed procedures for their international connecting flight at the departure airport for their Japan domestic flight are not required to check in at the departure airport for their international flight.

STEP2

Baggage Check-in

Passengers who have already checked in their baggage at the departure airport for their Japan domestic flight do not need to collect their baggage at the departure airport for their international flight. Please proceed directly to security.

STEP3

Security

Please undergo the security inspection.

STEP4

Immigration

Please undergo the immigration.

STEP5

Boarding Gate

Please come to the boarding gate at least 30 minutes prior to the departure time.

  • You may be unable to board your flight if you do not come to the boarding gate at least 10 minutes prior to departure.
