About the Service

Upgrade Points can be used to upgrade to premium Class on domestic routes (ANA Group operated flights) and to upgrade to Premium Economy (ANA Group operated flights only), Business Class and First Class on international routes (ANA Group operated flights / United Airlines operated flights).

If seats are available within 27 days prior to departure date, you can submit an application in the case of Japan domestic flights eligible for upgrades*1. Passengers wishing to upgrade must have already reserved and purchased an Economy Class ticket for the flight they wish to upgrade. Note that when completing the upgrade procedure, if multiple passengers are included in the reservation and only some of the passengers wish to be upgraded, please make the request via phone call.

Cancellation and Upgrade Point refund requests can be made via the ANA website or the Premium Members Service Desk.

The requisite number of points will be deducted from your Upgrade Point balance at the same time your upgrade reservation is made.

Seat reservations for the class to which you wish to upgrade will be available once your upgrade is confirmed.Depending on availability, you may not be able to make a reservation for your preferred seat.
Procedures at the Airport on the Departure Date

Please complete the procedure via online check-in or by using a self-service check-in machine (or at a check-in counter if there is no self-service check-in machine).

If you would like to apply for an upgrade on the departure date

Upgrade requests are accepted from 27 days prior to the boarding date, as long as Terms of Use for upgrade are met. Please apply online or at an airport counter. Requests for Waitlist Reservation Service are also accepted from 0:00 a.m. on the departure date to 20 minutes before departure.
Points to Note Regarding the Same-Day Upgrade Standby Service

Lounge access via Premium Class is only permitted once your upgrade has been confirmed.
Passengers on standby for upgrades are not eligible.

If you check in your baggage before your upgrade is confirmed, you will not be eligible for the higher class' free baggage allowance or priority baggage handling.

Any excess baggage charges paid are non-refundable, even if your upgrade is subsequently confirmed.
Registered Award Users

On the departure date, go to the check-in counter and request seat upgrade using Upgrade Points. The self service check-in kiosk cannot process upgrades.

When traveling on ANA international flights (ANA Group Operated flights and ANA flight number flights only) , ANA Diamond Service Members can upgrade by using double Upgrade Points with ineligible booking class. This service will apply when higher class availability requirement is met on the departure date. (such as meal, seat, amenity etc)

The seat upgrade service using Upgrade Points, available exclusively to Diamond Service members, will end on March 31, 2027, following the discontinuation of upgrade point issuance.
For details, please see the information regarding the Termination of the Upgrade Points service.

Upgrades using double Upgrade Points are only available for use by members themselves, with the points being deducted from the member's own Upgrade Points. Registered award users will not be eligible for this service.

This service is not available in reservation by awards.

Once a reservation has been upgraded, it cannot be further upgraded to a higher class.

When your travel is originating from Japan ticketed on H class, Economy class upgrades to Business class via this service will be accepted at double the standard points.
However, the standard point will actually be deducted due to system limitations.

How to apply

Please be sure to request this service via the ANA website or the Diamond Service Desk the day before boarding date to request for this service.

Upon checking in, please confirm upgrade service has been requested with the ANA staff at the airport counter on the day of departure.

You can apply from 355 days before your boarding day (not including the date of departure) until 24 hours before departure through the ANA website after logging in or contact the Premium member service desk*.

However, when upgrade requirements are met at the airport (seats in a higher class, meals etc.), upgrade may be possible upon check-in counter on the day of departure.

How to proceed at the airport on the day of your flight

Please follow the procedures using Online Check-in or the Self Service Check-in kiosk (for airports without machines, please go to the check-in counter).

When wait-listed for upgrade

Please use Online Check-in or the Self Service Check-in kiosk (for airports without machines, please go to the check-in counter). Seats may become available on the day of departure. Please confirm at the check-in counter. When seats are available on the day of boarding, check-in will be processed in the upgraded class.
If the upgrade is not available, check-in will be arranged based on the class of the purchased ticket.

If you would like to apply for an upgrade on the departure date

Upgrades are possible when the required conditions for upgrades (seats in a higher class, meals, etc.) are met. Please inquire at the check-in counter on the day of departure.

If you are connecting from a flight operated by another airline, please ask an ANA staff member at the airport counter of your first ANA flight.

The following taxes are levied when departing from the following cities and countries will also be applicable to upgrades made with mileage or upgrade points and the exact amount will depend on the class of service. For tickets which have already been issued, any differences with the tax for the upgraded class of service must be paid at the airport. The tax amount valid on that day will be applied.

For Economy Class seat reservations on ANA Group-operated Japan domestic flights, primary members and accompanying passengers with the same reservation number are able to make priority reservations for their desired seats.
Select your preference of seat to ensure a more pleasant time on board.
Customers with Premium Member status can select and reserve from the range of seats available in Economy seats in advance.
